Since November, our Offset application counted 359 deliveries, in a total of 95,211 kilometres done, from our Studio, to the delivery addresses.
Of course this figure is not 100% true, because it does not take into account the worst part of the transport: from the logistics platform to the customer's address. In which a van is capable of travelling more than 200 km in an urban circuit, releasing carbon dioxide in urban areas.
The carrier we use, at the moment, only neutralises these emissions in Germany(see here), so we, for our part, do what we can!
We are not perfect, but we are always trying to improve. In that respect we are working hard with DPD to allow our customers to collect from DPD pick-up locations, significantly reducing CO2 emissions. In addition, all our suppliers use CO2 neutral delivery carriers and some have the same initiative as us, where they plant a tree for every product sold.
Let's look at the numbers? In these 4 months we managed to protect 562 square meters of forest, i.e. we planted approximately (an additional) 74 trees. In total, during this period, all businesses (big and small) in this initiative managed to protect 33.3 km2 of forest, which represents an offset of about 3518 metric tons of CO2!
